Final results are important, but in order to get repeatable results a strong process is required. Below is my current process for designing and, in some cases, developing modern websites and applications.

Once I have a solid understanding of the projects goals I will begin with quick wireframes. This is when storyboarding, site maps and structure are created and revised.
I may create some high fidelity wireframes if the project requires more detail, but usually these wireframes are intended for overall placement and information hierarchy.
After the overall structure of the app has been realized, it's time to bring in the art style and imagery.
Several iterations of the design may be made at this point until an overall style has been chosen.
With the mockups completed I will now create prototypes either with html, css, and javascript or with a tool such as Figma or Adobe XD.
With the prototypes completed I will begin user testing either in house or through a third party.
The user feedback will be brought back into the prototypes and the iterative design process will countine until we reach the desired goal.
This process will continue to take action throught the lifecycle of the project.
Once all user feedback has been incorparated its time to hand off to developers.
Working closely with development teams has given me the experience necessary to create useful and correct assets for each project.
